Special KOA Weekend Brings Big Summer Season To Close
KOA NEWS SERVICE (September 21, 2015) – Kampgrounds of America posted record results for the 2015 summer camping season.
KOA’s annual Value Kard Rewards Camper Appreciation Weekend September 18-20 continued KOA’s summer success story, with a 10.2 percent increase in camper nights from the same special weekend in 2014.
The special September weekend, which offered Value Kard Rewards members a free night of camping on Saturday when they stayed as a paid guest on Friday, was also sponsored by GEICO Insurance and RV Trader.
A KOA camper night is defined as one campsite or accommodation being filled for one calendar night, much as a hotel night is used in that industry.
For the main summer camping season, which runs from early May through mid September, KOA experienced a 10 percent overall increase in short-term camper nights. Every special weekend and holiday this summer (Care Camps Big Weekend, Memorial Day, Father’s Day, Independence Day, Labor Day and VRK Appreciation Weekend) had significant camper night increases over 2014 totals.
Thus far in 2015, short-term camper nights for recreational vehicles is up 9.9 percent; Basic Cabin camper nights are up 6.3 percent; Deluxe Cabin camper nights are up 10.1 percent; and Tent nights are up 10 percent.
