Shane Ott
In 1986, Shane found KOA to be a great summer job by working in KOA's former "Reservation Central" department. He spent two summers manually making reservations for campgrounds before transitioning to the Sales Department. His responsibilities in sales lead to his move to the Company Operated Properties Department where he made a home for himself for the next 16 years. Starting out as the operations assistant and eventually operations manager, Ott had opportunities to manage and directly work on several KOA Campgrounds. From the St. Augustine KOA to the Gallup, New Mexico KOA, he learned first hand how a KOA campground works and brought that knowledge back with him to the KOA Home Office. Seeing first hand the day-to-day operation of running a successful campground, he realized that KOA was the place he wanted to spend his career. Upon the arrival of Jim Rogers, chief executive officer of KOA, in 2000, Ott was promoted to vice president of Company Owned Properties. Under his direction the department has seen significant growth, doubling the amount of Company Owned Properties in just a few short years. Most recently, Ott held the title of senior vice president of Company Owned Properties. Shane and his wife Joy, the Montana regional president of Wells Fargo Bank, have been married for 13 years and enjoy spending time at their cabin located on the Boulder River with their two dogs.Contact Shane Ott A print-quality image of Shane Ott is available for download. Shane Ott became the new president and chief operating officer of Kampgrounds of America, Inc. in November 2006. The promotion came after 20 years of dedicated service to KOA and the camping industry.
